THE BIRTH OF A NATION (2016) Teaser Trailer: Nat Turner Leads a Slave Uprising

Armie Hammer Nate Parker The Birth of a Nation

The Birth of a Nation Trailer. Nate Parker‘s The Birth of a Nation (2016) teaser trailer stars Nate Parker, Armie Hammer, Mark Boone Jr., Colman Domingo, and Aunjanue Ellis. The Birth of a Nation‘s plot synopsis: “Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates and uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.”

This film looks both wonderfully directed and dark. The Birth of a Nation is about a sad section of America’s history. 12 Years a Slave breathed new life into producing this type of project, with the remake of Roots and the new TV series Underground also touching upon the subject matter. I hope more films on this subject get made so we can reflect on how far we have come as a nation. Hearing about atrocities is one thing, seeing them is another.
