Eliza Dushku Cast As Lead In The Black Company

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back actress Eliza Dushku is set to star in IM Global Television‘s adaptation of The Black Company.

Best known to audiences for her TV roles, Dushku played the role of Faith in the cult classic supernatural drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as its spin-off Angel. Additionally, she headlined two series for the Fox network, another supernatural-themed show called Tru Calling and the science fiction program Dollhouse, which reunited her with Buffy creator Joss Whedon. On the film front, she has had roles in such productions as True Lies, Bring It On, and Eloise.

Based on author Glenn Cook’s fantasy series of the same name, the planned program will see Dushku play The Lady, a powerful sorceress who uses her influence as well as her dark magic to maintain her hegemony.

Per Deadline, the source of this story:

The series follows the exploits of the Black Company, an elite mercenary unit that carries out the often nefarious deeds of the highest bidder across a Tolkeinesque landscape. When these hard-bitten men discover the prophecy that the embodiment of good has been reborn, they must re-examine their loyalties. The Lady (Dushku), who rules over the Northern Empire, uses the Black Company to further her domination of a power structure rife with usurpers. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.
