THE CROW: Film Gets New Director; Luke Evans May Drop Out

The Crow

A New Director Announced for The Crow. The Crow may end up seeing some changes with the cast and crew as Relativity Studios announced that F. Javier Gutierrez has dropped out of the reboot and Corin Hardy would replace him as the new director.

Deadline first gave the news that Gutierrez signed for the next entry of The Ring causing scheduling conflicts with shooting for The Crow. So after dropping out, the studio hired Corin Hardy to direct the reboot, making this his first live-action feature film. Hardy’s experience in filmmaking includes short films and music videos for different artists like The Prodigy and Ed Sheeran.

Another possible dropout from the film may also be its leading man Luke Evans. Speaking with Den of Geek, Evans spoke about the progress of The Crow:

It’s not, no. No at the minute The Crow is not, not for me, I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’m very interested in and you know, I can’t wait much longer! [laughs]

So even with a new director, it doesn’t look like Luke Evans will be sticking around so we may need a new actor to play the revenge-seeking undead musician. This would definitely disappoint creator James O’Barr who gave praises for Luke Evans acting skills. The production team has until Spring 2015 for the studio to find a new actor to replace Luke Evans. Who do you think should be up for playing the role in The Crow?
