THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Juno Temple cast in 2012 Movie

Juno Temple has been cast in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises. The 2012 Batman film has been casting its key roles in recent months. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (written about here: The Dark Knight Rises (2012): Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Alberto Falcone), Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway (written about here: The Dark Knight Rises casting: Anne Hathaway [Catwoman], Tom Hardy [Bane]) were cast in The Dark Knight Rises before Juno Temple. Juno Temple will be playing a “street-smart Gotham girl.” Some have specaulted that this decription could

literally be a very tertiary character who just has a small role. But the description also sounds just enough like Frank Miller’s version of Robin from the original Dark Knight mini-series that there has already been a good amount of speculation about the reality of the role.

Much more likely, however, is that she’ll play another Frank Miller character, Holly Robinson, who is friend to Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman…

Holly Robinson, introduced by Frank Miller in Batman: Year One, does seem like the most likely role. She was “a juvenile prostitute who lives with Selina Kyle,” and in various incarnations has actually been trained to replace Selina Kyle as Catwoman. Juno Temple’s basic appearance definitely works with the way the character has been drawn over the years.

So who is Juno Temple you ask and what has she been in previously?

Temple began her career as a child actress in the 1997 film Vigo: Passion for Life, a film about Jean Vigo.

She has won critical praise for several supporting roles. One reviewer said that she played her part in Notes on a Scandal with “petulance and angst”, while her performance in Atonement has been called “impressive”. Some of her other film credits include Celia in St. Trinians and St. Trinian’s II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold, Drippy (Jennifer Logan) in Wild Child, and Jane Parker in The Other Boleyn Girl. In 2009, Temple starred as Eema in the comedy, Year One, alongside Jack Black and Michael Cera. She also played Di Radfield in the adaption of Sheila Kohlers Cracks.

She is attached to play the title role in Ophelia, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Temple has also appeared in Kid Harpoon‘s music video “Milkmaid” and Plushgun’s “Just Impolite”. She will portray Diane in the lesbian lycanthropic tale Jack & Diane.

In 2011 she will appear in Paul W.S. Anderson‘s 3D film adaption of The Three Musketeers as Anne of Austria, the Queen Consort of France. The film will also star Logan Lerman,Orlando BloomMilla JovovichChristoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen.

She stars in Abe Sylvia’s Dirty Girl, which premiered on 12 September 2010, at the Toronto Film Festival, co-starring with Milla Jovovich, Jeremy DozierWilliam H. MacyMary Steenburgen and Tim McGraw.
