THE DARKEST HOUR (2011) Movie Trailer: Chris Gorak, Emile Hirsch

Emile Hirsch, The Darkest Hour 2011

The Darkest Hour Trailer. Chris Gorak‘s The Dark Hour (2011) movie trailer stars Emile HirschOlivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Joel Kinnaman, and Rachael Taylor. The Dark Hour‘s plot synopsis: “The DARKEST HOUR is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.”

The Dark Hour looks interesting but I thought the exact same thing about Skyline and Battle: Los Angeles and those films turned out very poorly. The angle that the aliens are invisible is a great take on the alien invasion scenario as well as the fact that they can’t see life behind inanimate objects.

The Dark Hour is

produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and written by Jon Spaihts (Ridley Scott’s Prometheus).

  • Battle: Los Angeles was poor? Man, I am starting to think you are a film snob.:P

  • F*** yes it was. Disposable. Nothing compared to Black Hawk Down or the Marine scenes in Aliens.

  • Black Hawk Down is not really comparable here. It is not an alien invasion styled film. Nothing compares to Aliens. That is a classic. I liked Battle: Los Angeles for entertainment. Did I learn anything from the film? Nope, pure adrenalin rush:)

  • For “pure adrenalin” I would rather watch Point Break, Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Fast & Furious, Cliff Hanger, etc.

  • Anything from the last ten years? I am just giving you a hard time at this point:)

For me from the last ten: Fast and Furious 1-4, Chronicles of Riddick (love these films), and Restrepo. I have to mention Heat (1995). This last one is an oldie (not last 10 years), but a goodie.

  • Fast & Furious was the Fourth film in the series, which was released in the last ten years.
