THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 6 and 7: Jason Statham possibly Cast

Jason Statham

Jason Statham may join The Fast and the Furious 6 and 7. The Fast and the Furious 6 and The Fast and the Furious 7 plus Jason Statham may be a win for both parties: Jason Statham has made a series of recent action films that are monolithic and disposable, call backs to the action films of the late 80’s earlier 90’s where the hero beats up/kills everyone and survives at the end, no matter what. The last of those films was Killer Elite. By joining The Fast and the Furious Franchise, his wilted star power will not be the only thing bolstering the film – it will be an ensemble cast. For The Fast and the Furious franchise, they will be adding another big name and more star power to their booming car racing franchise, a formula no one else has been able to successfully duplicate.

The series is apparently also circling the possibility of shooting the next films in the series back to back, saving the studio money and potential scheduling conflicts. It is unfortunate that Justin Lin will be not directing the films (a scheduling conflict with Terminator 5) as he breathed new life into the franchise with Fast & Furious, the best film in the series to date, reviewed here: Fast & Furious (2009) Movie Review.

On the sequels and Jason Statham:

Universal Pictures are currently looking in to the possibility of shooting Fast 6 and Fast 7 back to back in Europe throughout 2012 and, furthermore, that they are entering into preliminary conversations with Jason Statham to explore the possibility of the action star joining one or both films.

Most-likely starring in next The Fast and the Furious film, possibly entitled Fast Six or Furious Six (something clever like that), will be Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Tego Calderon, Don Omar, and Elsa Pataky.
