THE FLASH (2018): Phil Lord Gives Update on DC Film

Phil Lord Offers Scoop on Upcoming Film The Flash. Both Phil Lord and Chris Miller are becoming one of the most in-demand writers/directors in Hollywood, so it’s no wonder that The Flash will be their biggest project yet. Phil Lord offered an update recently on their new film.

Talking with the HippoJuice Podcast, the only similarity between The CW series and their version of the Scarlet Speedster – who will be portrayed by Ezra Miller – will be his name Barry Allen. The 22 Jump Street director said that the story is what stands apart from the popular TV show. Here’s what Phil Lord had to say about the forthcoming stand-alone flick:

We’re trying to break a story. It’s interesting, because there’s a really popular TV show out there, and we’re trying to carve out space for the movie that’s apart from that. I think we’re doing alright. … I believe [our Flash] is going to be Barry Allen. … It’s going to be it’s own [thing, apart from the TV show] — we’re more trying to stick with the cinematic universe… it really is its own thing, and kind of a stand-alone movie. We’re just trying to think of the best story. I think you guys will like it, it’s kind of a different take on superhero stuff.

It will be interesting to see how the fastest man alive will be part of the DC Cinematic Universe with the film having a different tone than the other DC movies currently in development. It’s not confirmed if the duo will be directing The Flash, but if they do then they might be able to make this film into something unique.

Do you think Phil Lord and Chris Miller can bring The Flash to the big screen?
