The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature Trailer

The fourth movie trailer for The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature (2017) from Gulfstream Pictures. With the most worthwhile animated films coming from Pixar or overseas these days, it’s very hard for me to get excited about ones that don’t come from either of these sources. This is definitely the case with the latest trailer for The Nut Job 2.

I will say, however, that it’s not because the trailer looks especially bad. On the contrary, I was almost shocked by how competently it was put together, with Will Arnett sounding suitable enough as Surly Squirrel, the animation looking decent for what it was worth, and some actual effort going into the humor. The thing of it is, it looks like they did just enough to keep it from being a disaster and not enough to make it engaging. The jokes, while not completely offensive to the viewers’ intelligence, are too safe to really resonate with viewers and the characters are as stock as it gets. I haven’t seen the first Nut Job, and I’ll probably wait for this one to hit video.

Cal Brunker‘s The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature (2017) also stars Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Jackie Chan, Isabela Moner, Peter Stormare, Bobby Cannavale, Tom Kenny, Kari Wahlgren, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Moynihan, Jeff Dunham, Sebastian Maniscalco, Josh Robert Thompson, and Rob Tinkler
