Edward James Olmos Joins The Cast Of The Predator
Details are not forthcoming regarding Olmos’ role, but it is known that he will play a member of the military in the film. He joins a sizeable cast that includes among its ranks Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, Jacob Tremblay, and Boyd Holbrook, who is known for his leading role in Narcos and is now set to star in the movie.
Although many believed that the project would be a full reboot of the original franchise, Black has gone out of his way to stress that it takes place in the same universe as the first film and its immediate follow-up, Predator 2. However, he did not say if it would tie in to Predators, the third film in the series.
Superherohype, the source of this story, added the following information about the original film series:
The original Predator was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a United States special forces team that comes under attack from an alien entity that prizes the thrill of the hunt above all else. It was followed by a direct sequel, Predator 2, in 1990 before crossing over with Fox’s Alien franchise for two additional sequels, Alien vs. Predator and AvP: Requiem. In 2010, Nimrod Antal helmed a reboot with a new feature, Predators.
