THE SECRET LIFE OF THE LONELY DOLL: Jessica Lange And Naomi Watts To Star

Jessica Lange Naomi Watts

The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll to feature Jessica Lange and Naomi Watts. The two actresses will headline the planned biographical drama from Indigenous Media.

The addition of Lange and Watts to The Secret Life will undoubtedly be a boon to the film. Lange, who has an extensive resume stretching back to the 1970’s, has received two Academy Awards for Best Actress, while Watts was nominated twice for the same award, with her most recent nomination being for her performance in 2014’s Birdman.

No information has been provided about the roles they will be playing, but it is highly possible that either one of them will be playing the lead. The upcoming project is based on the Dare Wright book of the same name:

Gia Coppola who wrote and directed the indie film Palo Alto is set to direct. Merritt Johnson, who won multiple awards for Temple Grandin and “In Treatment,” including the AFI Award, Humanitas Prize and WGA Award, will adapt.

The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll is the story of Dare Wright, whose best-selling children’s book “The Lonely Doll” made her a household name in the 1950’s. Forty years later, journalist Jean Nathan in her search for the out-of-print book series, found Wright living in a public hospital in Queens, New York. Nathan’s book pieces together Wright’s bizarre life of glamour and isolation, and her struggle to escape her painful childhood through her art.
