The Shallows Trailer 3

The third and final movie trailer for The Shallows (2016) has been released for the Jaume Collet-Serra directed film. The voice over in The Shallows trailer 3 about being self-reliant is new and goes directly to the plot of this action film. The trailer is more of a teaser than an actual full trailer. There are new scenes but nothing major.

The producers of marketing campaign for The Shallows did things backwards. This should have been the first trailer for the film, not the last one. I am not saying this trailer is not effective because it is. It makes the viewer want to see more. The problem is that the viewer has already seen more in the first trailer and in the second trailer, a lot more going well into spoiler territory.

The film will be premiering next month amongst a lot of noise: The BFG, The Legend of Tarzan, and The Purge: Election Day. Going up against that competition, it will be hard for The Shallows to distinguish itself on opening weekend. Perhaps the film will have legs of some kind and find an audience filled with the curious.

The Shallows stars Blake Lively, Sedona Legge, and  Óscar Jaenada.
