THE WALKING DEAD: AMC TV Show Renewed for Season 5

The Walking Dead Season 4

The Walking Dead Renewed for Season 5. This recent AMC news answers the question of whether or not the cable TV station would renew the horror television show. The 5th season of The Walking Dead will be comprised of the same number of episodes as season four and will begin to air in 2014. This renewal news came as little surprise with the record breaking premiere The Walking Dead: Season 4 just recently enjoyed.

We are very happy to make what has to be one of the most anti-climactic renewal announcements ever:  The Walking Dead is renewed for a fifth season. This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently – and most notably – with the season four premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest non-sports telecast in cable history. On behalf of the incredible team on both sides of the camera, thank you to the fans and here’s to more Dead.

On the people behind the seasons of season 5:

Scott Gimple will continue as showrunner, while Gale Anne Hurd and original comic creator Robert Kirkman continue as exec producers.

The Walking Dead: Season 3 starred Danai Gurira, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Michael Rooker, David Morrissey, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun, Laurie HoldenScott WilsonEmily Kinney, Chandler RiggsMelissa Suzanne McBrideAdam Minarovich, Dallas Roberts, Marvin Duerkholz, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Chad Coleman.

The Walking Dead: Season 4 other cast additions include Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Vincent Martella, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr.
