THE YOUNG WORLD: Chris Weitz Directing Book Adaptation for Warner Bros

Chris Weitz

The Young World Film Adaptation Greenlit. Warner Bros. Pictures is producing the film adaptation of Chris Weitz‘s The Young World, which the author will also direct. The Little Brown book deal was only 15 months old before the film adaptation deal was finalized with the movie studio. Chris Weitz will helm the film and produce along with Andrew Miano.

On The Young World:

A story about the teenage sole survivors who inherit a destroyed and desolate earth, after a cataclysmic event kills off every person on earth not between the ages of 12 and 21. Ill-equipped to restore society to working order, the surviving residents of New York City must try to rebuild their world from the ground up—a tough charge for any decimated population, but especially difficult if you’re trying to save your species from annihilation while simultaneously going through puberty.

Christopher John “Chris” Weitz is an American producer, writer, director, actor and author. He is best known for his work with his brother, Paul Weitz, on the comedy films American Pie and About a Boy, as well as directing the film adaptation of the novel The Golden Compass and the film adaptation of New Moon from the series of Twilight books.
