TOMB RAIDER (2018): Daniel Wu to Play Key Role in Reboot

Tomb Raider Reboot Casts Daniel Wu in Major Role

Tomb Raider has already begun shooting and despite not revealing much on who is in the cast, reports have surfaced that Into the Badlands actor Daniel Wu has signed on for an important role in the film adaptation. But who will the actor be portraying in the film?

Variety first reported that Daniel Wu is joining the reboot of Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander. The actor will portray ship captain Lu Ren, who will team up with Lara Croft in her quest to locate her father. Wu is joined by Alicia as the main character along with Walter Goggins who plays the main antagonist. Production is set to begin in January, but it appears that it has already begun based on Goggin’s recent Instagram post.

Wu is known to American audiences as the lead in AMC’s martial arts drama Into the Badlands as well as orc Gul-dan in Duncan Jones’ Warcraft film adaptation last year. Besides his work in Hollywood, Wu has acted in over 60 Chinese films. With his background in martial arts, should we expect him to be fighting in the film alongside Alicia? With the video games heavy on action sequences, we can expect the actor to perhaps do some stunts but hopefully not overshadow our main heroine. What do you guys think of Daniel Wu joining the cast of Tomb Raider?
