TOMB RAIDER: Film To Follow 2013 Reboot Game

Tomb Raider 2013 Game

New Tomb Raider Film to Be Based Off of 2013 Game. The new Tomb Raider film is going back to it’s roots as it has been revealed that it would follow on the critically acclaimed 2013 reboot game. So expect to see a much younger Lara Croft once the film comes to the big screen.

Norwegian director Roar Uthaug spoke with IGN regarding the film’s direction, which would take its cue from Crystal Dynamic’s best selling 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider. “I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well.  I think we’ll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I’m hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise.”

Seeing that the reboot film from Warner Bros. and MGM will follow the plot of the new action-adventure titles is definitely a sign that the film is going in the right direction. There hasn’t been a release date scheduled yet, but Geneva Robertson-Dworet was recently hired to pen the script. The franchise was reinvigorated with the 2013 game that gained praise from critics and fans alike.

What do you guys think of the direction that the film is going towards? Is it the right move for them? Who do you think should portray the younger action heroine?
