I never watched the first season of Top of the Lake. Since Elizabeth Moss won an Emmy for portraying the leading role, I am guessing that at least her performance is good and worth giving a few episodes of the first season a once over (to gauge it). When the trailer began, I was not expecting Nicole Kidman and Gwendoline Christie to show up in the narrative but they certainly added to it. The fact that both of these actresses were drawn to this project really speaks to its quality.

After watching Elizabeth Moss in the first five episodes of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, I have complete confidence in Moss’ ability to bring an engaging character to life.

The tone of Top of the Lake: China Girl reminds me of The Killing. I hope Top of the Lake: China Girl, a 6-part limited series, is that good. Even the lackluster last season of The Killing had worth-while meat on the bone.
