TRANSFORMERS 5 (2017): Jerrod Carmichael Joins Michael Bay Film

Jerrod Carmichael

Jerrod Carmichael set to appear in Transformers 5. The Carmichael Show and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising actor will play a supporting role in the next entry in the highly-lucrative Transformers franchise.

A stand-up comedian by trade, Carmichael has become an increasingly visible presence on both the big and the small screens. Already carrying a sitcom for NBC, the comedian is trying to dramatically raise his profile. Acting in a Transformers film will definitely go a long way in doing just that.

No word has been said about what particular role Carmichael will play, so that means he could either play a supporting human character or voice one of the robots the films are so known for. He joins a cast that includes Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg as well as other up-and-coming actors:

Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Growing Up Fisher) has already been tapped to play the female lead Izabella, described as “a street-smart tomboy who grew up an orphan and was raised in foster care.” The young character’s only friend is said to be a small Transformer, until she meets Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager.

Production on Transformers 5 is set to begin this summer in Detroit with shooting to pick up in other spots around the world. Michael Bay returns to the director’s chair for the film, which is set to be written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce the sequel.
