TV Casting: BLACK MIRROR, EMPIRE, David Fincher Directing UTOPIA

David Fincher will direct every episode of the first season of HBO’s “Utopia”

According to the newspaper [The Guardian], the director discussed the upcoming gig during press rounds for his latest film, “Gone Girl,” and shared that “Utopia” will keep him busy for most of 2015.

Gillian Flynn, who wrote the original novel “Gone Girl,” will write the series. HBO and Shine America are co-producing the series, which Fincher, Joshua Donen, Dennis Kelly and Jane Featherstone are also executive producing.

Empire (Fox)

Naomi Campbell has booked a recurring role on Fox’s midseason drama Empire…Campbell will play Camilla, an alluring woman involved in a steamy affair with Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), the much-younger potential heir to his father’s throne, over whom she exercises considerable influence.

Jane The Virgin (The CW)

Tina Casciani has joined the cast of the CW’s Jane The Virgin… Casciani will play Melissa De La Vega, a telenovela star and ex-wife and manager of Rogelio (Jaime Camil).

Black Mirror (Channel 4)

Jon Hamm will co-star in a feature-length special of International Emmy-winning satirical drama Black Mirror. Rafe Spall and Oona Chaplin are also joining Hamm in the special to air at Christmas on the UK’s Channel 4…The holiday episode, which begins filming in the UK this week, will showcase three interwoven stories of “Yuletide techno-paranoia.”

Hamm’s character appears in all three stories contained within the as-yet untitled episode, and serves as the link that brings them together into “a suitably unsettling whole.”

Your Family Or Mine (TBS)

Angela Kinsey is set to recur on the new TBS comedy series Your Family Or Mine, from creator Greg Malins, Sony TV and Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare Prods…Your Family Or Mine focuses on young couple Kelli (Kat Foster) and Oliver (Kyle Howard) and alternates between the two sides of the their family. Kinsey will play Claire, Oliver’s sister-in-law, married to his brother Jason (Danny Comden), who gets the brunt of her in-laws’ insults, which she doesn’t handle well.

House of Lies (Showtime)

Martin will join the fourth season of the comedy about a group of misfit consultants in a recurring guest role as Ellis Hightower, a maverick inventor and CEO. On the comedy’s upcoming fourth season, Marty and Hightower will develop a business relationship that enhances both of their futures.

The Last Panthers

Samantha Morton, John Hurt and Tahar Rahim will topline the cast of six-part crime drama “The Last Panthers”

The series opens with a diamond heist before plunging into the dark heart of Europe where a shadowy alliance of gangsters and crooked moneymen — “banksters” — now rules.

Morton plays Naomi, a British loss adjustor charged with recovering the stolen diamonds whatever the cost, while Hurt is Tom, her nefarious boss. Also in pursuit is a French-Algerian policeman Khalil, played by Rahim.

It is based on an idea by French journalist Jerome Pierrat, and the screenplay is from Jack Thorne (“Skins”).

The series will be directed by Johan Renck
