TV Casting: CONSTANTINE, THE FLASH, MATADOR, SELFIE, EMPIRE, SALVATION

Constantine, The Flash, Matador, Selfie, Empire, Salvation, and other TV shows have all made recent TV show casting news. These shows air on The CW, Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, FX, and El Rey respectively.

Constantine (NBC)

Constantine, based on DC Comics’ Hellblazer, has added Lucy Griffiths…as Liv, Harold Perrineau…as Manny, and Charles Halford…as Chas to the cast. They join Matt Ryan, who has already been cast as the title character John Constantine.

Liv, the female lead and an offbeat young lady who finds herself teamed with Constantine after she is marked for death by a powerful demon. With the ability to see the supernatural world among us, she becomes a key player in the battle between good and evil.

Manny, an authoritative angel assigned to watch over Constantine. He has the power to step into other people’s bodies, and although he is meant only to observe, Manny will not hesitate to help out if he can save a life.

Chas, Constantine’s oldest friend and staunch companion. The foreboding Chas possesses powerful survival skills that might possibly be supernatural.

The Flash (The CW)

Patrick Sabongui…has been added to the cast of the CW pilot The Flash… Sabongui will play another character of the comic, Captain David Singh, a potentially recurring role.

American Crime (ABC)

Timothy Hutton is set as the male lead in ABC’s drama pilot American Crime…It centers on the racially charged murder of a war veteran and the subsequent trial, which are examined through the personal lives of the players involved. Hutton will play Chuck Skokie, a former gambling addict-turned-honest working man whose adult son Matt is the victim.

Matador (El Rey)

Neil Hopkins has been cast in Matador…Hopkins…will play Noah, female lead Annie’s (Nicky Whelan) brilliant but awkward partner.

Selfie (ABC)

David Harewood is taking a comedic turn with a supporting role in ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Selfie…It centers on Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan), a self-obsessed, twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. Harewood will play the off/crazy president of the company Eliza works for.

Mariana Klaveno…has been cast in CBS’ untitled Kevin Williamson drama pilot…Klaveno…plays Janice, one of the Threat Assessment Unit’s detectives who is often underestimated because of her somewhat flashy appearance.

Married (FX)

Paul Reiser has been set to recur on Andrew Gurland’s new FX series Married…Reiser will play the older love interest of co-star Jenny Slate’s character.

The Good Wife (CBS)

Michael Cerveris has landed a recurring role on CBS’ drama The Good Wife. He will play James Castro, the charming and well-liked Cook County state’s attorney.

Ellen More Or Less (NBC)

Chris Diamantopoulos is set to co-star opposite Stacey McGunnigle in NBC’s pilot Ellen More Or Less…The single-camera comedy…centers on Ellen (McGunnigle), an average-size woman who, after losing 100 pounds, begins reinventing herself in life and love. Diamantopoulos…will play Ellen’s hunky colleague Jerry.

Salvation (NBC)

Ryan McPartlin will co-star opposite Ashley Judd in NBC’s drama pilot Salvation…McPartlin…will play Congressman Todd Bishop, an ambitious man whose political life keeps him from home, making him a bit of an absent husband and father.

Empire (Fox)

Bryshere Y. Gray aka rapper Yazz The Greatest has been cast in Fox’s hip-hop industry drama pilot Empire…Gray…is Lucious’ youngest son, and by far his favorite. He has the swagger of a rising superstar and just might be the front-runner to head Empire Entertainment.

Madam Secretary (CBS)

Bebe Neuwirth and Erich Bergen are set to co-star opposite Tia Leoni in CBS drama pilot Madam Secretary… the project explores the personal and professional life of maverick female Secretary of State Elizabeth McGill (Leoni) as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life…Neuwirth…plays Elizabeth’s Chief Of Staff…Bergen…plays Elizabeth’s young, loyal assistant, and the only person on her staff she actually hired.

Saint Francis (ABC)

Spencer Grammer (Ironside) has been cast in Saint Francis…It centers on Francis Quinlan (Michael Imperioli), a no-nonsense, blue-collar Long Island cop and family man who butts heads with the modern, liberal world when his 29-year-old sister Heather (Grammer) gets pregnant out of wedlock. Heather is a bit of a born rebel who feels dominated by her older brother and is determined to forge her own path in life.

Exposed (ABC)

Fran Kranz has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Exposed…It centers on Anna, an investigative journalist who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth including making questionable alliances. Kranz…plays Jeremy, Anna’s hipster younger brother, a tech genius who runs a corporation and has top-secret security clearance.

Red Zone (CBS)

Sepideh Moafi…has been cast as a regular in CBS drama pilot Red Zone…Moafi…plays Westernized Algerian woman Frida who’s keeping a lot of secrets.

Richard LaGravenese drama pilot (ABC)

Katie Holmes has landed a series regular role in ABC’s Richard LaGravenese drama pilot…Holmes will play Ann, a woman of education and breeding who, with her husband, runs a philanthropic foundation that helps bring clean water to African villages.

Daphne Rubin-Vega…has been added as a recurring in ABC’s Richard LaGravenese drama pilot…the untitled project is set in New York and revolves around the love and rivalry between two equally matched, powerful socialites — Philip Fitzgerald Julien (Sewell) and Margot Worth Cole — who play out their obsessive attraction and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others. Rubin-Vega…plays Philip’s housekeeper.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX)

the project centers on Johnny Rock (Leary), the magnificently talented lead singer of New York’s legendary early-’90s band The Heathens. His best friend Flash (Corbett) was being called the next No. 1 lead guitar player on Earth, with their tandem compared to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards or Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Minus the money. And the fame. And the ability to stay in the same room for longer than five minutes without wanting to kill each other. Still, the critics loved them. Their live shows were selling out. But Johnny had a problem with booze. And coke. And weed. And pills. And cough medicine. And oh yeah – he slept with Flash’s wife. Twenty-five years later Johnny is trying to get the band back together. Meanwhile, Flash has carried on and found some fame as a respected session player and occasional guitarist for Lady Gaga.

The Winklers (ABC)

Josh Sussman (Glee) has been cast as a series regular in Henry Winkler ABC’s comedy pilot The Winklers…Sussman…will play Jonah, the son of Henry and Tita. Though he has his own apartment, Jonah frequently stops by his parents’ home to take baths, hang out and receive praise from his parents or anyone else willing to hand out a compliment.
