TV Casting: IZOMBIE, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., MASTERS OF SEX, EMPIRE

MULTI-TALENTED PEFORMER KEKE PALMER JOINS SEASON TWO OF THE ACCLAIMED DRAMA SERIES MASTERS OF SEX ON SHOWTIME®

LOS ANGELES, CA March 12, 2014 – Multi-talented performer Keke Palmer is joining the season two cast of the acclaimed SHOWTIME drama series MASTERS OF SEX. Palmer will recur in the guest starring role of Coral, the nanny hired by the Masters to care for their new baby.  Production on season two will begin mid-March in Los Angeles.

At the age of twenty, Keke Palmer has already established herself as one of the fastest rising young stars of her generation. Her talents span film, television, and music alike. Keke can next be seen starring in the Flower Films horror/thriller, Animal, directed by Brett Simmons and executive produced by Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen. The movie will be released in June 2014. Also in 2014, she can be seen in lead roles in the indie pictures, Brotherly Love (2014), produced by Queen Latifah and Imperial Dreams (Sundance Film Festival – 2014) opposite John Boyega and directed by Malik Vitthal.  Keke was most recently seen in a strong supporting role opposite Ms. Cicely Tyson, Blaire Underwood and Vanessa Williams in the Lifetime television movie A Trip to Bountiful (March 8, 2014).  In addition to her acting, Keke has been hard at work in the music studio recording her next album. Currently working with three Grammy award winning producers, she will have two songs from soundtracks both to debut this summer as well as a single from her new album coming out later this year.

Season One of MASTERS OF SEX received both Golden Globe® and WGA nominations and was honored as one of AFI’s Top Ten Television Programs of the Year.  Starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life pioneers of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the series chronicles their unusual lives, romance and pop culture trajectory. Their research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love.  Season two also stars Caitlin Fitzgerald, Teddy Sears and Annaleigh Ashford.  MASTERS OF SEX was created by Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) who also serves as an executive producer.    In addition, the series is executive produced by Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Judith Verno and Amy Lippman.  Michael Dinner, Michael Sheen, Tammy Rosen and Thomas Maier serve as producers.  MASTERS OF SEX is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Drama (HBO)

Olivia Wilde is set to co-star opposite Bobby Cannavale in the project, which has been in the works at HBO since 2010…the untitled drama is set in 1970s New York and explores the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of record executive Richie Finestra (Cannavale) who is trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound. Richie is undergoing a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision. Wilde will play Richie’s wife Devon Finestra, a former actress/model who lived a Bohemian life in 1960s New York. Richie’s crisis causes strain on their family and propels her to re-immerse in her former lifestyle.

Juno Temple (Maleficent) has been cast in HBO‘s untitled Rock ’n’ Roll drama pilot…Temple…will play Jamie Vine, an ambitious assistant in the A&R department at the label, American Century Records.

She uses her keen abilities to manipulate people and blend into the various subcultures of the New York music underground, in order to break through the glass ceiling and get ahead.

Empire (Fox)

Kaitlin Doubleday [has been signed] as a series regular…Doubleday will play Rhonda, the wife of Lucious’ oldest son Andre (Trai Byers), a sexy, manipulative woman who shares Andre’s Ivy League background and intends to help him scrap his way to the head of Empire.

Married (FX)

Regina Hall is set as a recurring in Andrew Gurland’s new FX series Married…Hall will play Roxanne, ex-wife of very needy dude AJ (Brett Gelman), who is taking the divorce very hard. Now she’s engaged to a much more emotionally stable guy, but AJ is still making her life difficult.

Coercion (NBC)

Scott Cohen will star opposite Hope Davis in the NBC drama pilot Coercion…the high-octane thriller revolves around the O’Connor family and their extremely intelligent son, Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), a decorated American war hero and newly minted CIA analyst who is a true patriot and loves his country and family. Unbeknownst to him, his father (Cohen), his mother (Davis) and his sister (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated.

iZombie (The CW)

Rose McIver…has been cast as the lead in Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero’s CW drama pilot iZombie, from Warner Bros TV. Based on the DC comic, iZombie is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on med student-turned-zombie Olivia “Liv” Moore (McIver), who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

Proof (TNT)

Annie Thurman …is set as a series regular in TNT pilot Proof, a supernatural medical drama…Proof centers on Dr. Kathryn Russo (Jennifer Beals), a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond? Thurman…will play Sophie, the surviving daughter.

The Messengers (The CW)

Shantel VanSantenvan has signed on to CW’s ensemble drama pilot The Messengers…VanSanten…will play Vera, a NASA scientist.

Far East Orlando (ABC)

Hudson Yang will play Eddie Huang, a likable, well-meaning kid and a recent transplant from Washington, D.C., now living in homogenized, all-white Orlando, where his dad (Randall Park) is opening a restaurant. He’s clearly not happy about being uprooted in the middle of the school year and is trying his best to fit in, make friends and be accepted, but so far it’s not exactly working.

Love Is Relative (NBC)

Barry Rothbart… is set as a male lead in Love Is Relative, NBC’s single-camera comedy pilot…Rothbart…plays Josh, a handsome, by-the-book kind of guy who always has played by the rules and is heartbroken after discovering his wife has been unfaithful to him.

Astronaut Wives Club (ABC)

Zoe Boyle… is set as a female lead in ABC’s summer drama series Astronaut Wives Club…Boyle…will play Jo Schirra, wife of Wally Schirra, who flew missions for the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs.

Sea Of Fire (ABC)

Morgan Taylor Campbell…has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Sea Of Fire…Campbell will play Jane McAllister, the pretty, preppy and seemingly straight-laced daughter of Reverend Bobby and Adine McAllister, who goes missing on the night of the town festival.

Jane The Virgin (The CW)

Now the CW has tapped [Yael Grobglas] again, this time for Jane The Virgin, which also stars Mexican actor-singer-heartthrob Jaime Camil in his U.S. pilot debut. Brett Dier (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid) and Andrea Navedo (One Life To Live) also signed on to the project.

Grobglas…will play Monica, who is left reeling when her husband’s sperm is used to inseminate the wrong girl. Dier…will play Michael, a cop and Jane’s steadfast boyfriend who has secrets of his own. Navedo will play Xiomara, Jane’s mother, who is fiercely devoted to her daughter.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)

Adrian Pasdar…has been cast as Glenn Tablot in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Mysteries Of Laura (NBC)

Janina Gavankar…will co-star in NBC’s drama pilot The Mysteries Of Laura…Gavankar…will play Meredith, a tightly wound and perfectly coiffed detective who sees herself as far more sophisticated than her fellow detective and rival Laura Diamond, and it annoys her to no end that Laura is the precinct’s golden child.

One Big Happy (NBC)

Brandon Smith has been cast in NBC‘s multi-camera pilot One Big Happy…it centers on two platonic friends since childhood — a lesbian, Lizzy (Elisha Cuthbert), and her straight male best friend, Luke (Nick Zano) — who have been living together and trying to have a baby via artificial insemination for some time. They finally get pregnant — just as Luke meets and impulsively marries the love of his life, Prudence. Smith will play Marcus, a close friend of Luke and a star bowler who supplements his meager income by working at a local bowling alley. He is impressed by Prudence and suggests that Luke “lock it down.”

The Pro

Jared Gilman (Moonrise Kingdom) is set to play Rebecca Romijn’s son in the NBC/ABC Studios single-camera comedy pilot The Pro starring Rob Lowe and Rob Riggle.
