TV Casting: RAY DONOVAN, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, GOTHAM, EMPIRE, WARRIORS

Ray Donovan, The Vampire Diaries, Gotham, Empire, Warriors and other TV shows have all made recent TV show casting news. These shows air on Showtime, The CW, ABC, NBC, Fox, TNT, and TBS respectively.

Jada Pinkett Smith will…play Fish Mooney, an imposing, hotheaded and notoriously sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner with street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book who is not one to be crossed.

Secrets & Lies (ABC)

KaDee Strickland will play Ben (Ryan Phillippe)’s wife Christy whose feelings towards Ben are complicated by the discovery of the neighbor boy’s body. Also cast in the project is young actress Belle Shouse as Ben and Christy’s younger daughter Abby. Charles McDougall is directing Secrets & Lies

The Vampire Diaries (The CW)

Raffi Barsoumian is set for a major recurring role…He will play Markos, an imposing and charismatic presence with supernatural origins.

The Mysteries Of Laura (NBC)

Debra Messing is…set for the title role in the pilot, written by Jeff Rake and directed by McG. Based on the popular Spanish series Los Misterios De Laura, The Mysteries Of Laura follows the life and relationships of Laura Diamond (Messing), a female homicide detective who can handle murderous criminals — but not her hell-raising twin children.

Empire (FOX)

Terrence Howard…is set as the lead in Empire…Written by Strong and to be directed by Daniels, Empire is described as a unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire. It centers on Lucious Lyon (Howard), a charismatic, savvy music superstar who is about to take his company, Empire Entertainment, public. Raised on the streets, he has never backed away from a fight and will resort to any measures, fair or foul, to defend his beloved Empire.

Red Band Society (FOX)

Charlie Rowe, Rebecca Rittenhouse…and Zoe Levin are set to co-star opposite Octavia Spencer in Fox’s drama project Red Band Society…Written by Margaret Nagle based on the Spanish series Polseres Vermelles, Red Band Society is a coming-of-age drama that explores with dark humor the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends…Patti Felker, plays another teen, the beautiful and smart but mean Kara, a head cheerleader who finds herself in the hospital pediatrics ward after she passes out during a practice.

Fox’s Ricky Blitt Comedy Pilot

Jon Heder is set to star opposite Jane Kaczmarek and David James Elliott in Fox’s half-hour pilot…The Warner Bros-produced multi-camera comedy (known as Here’s Your Damn Family) centers on a stunted, intelligent but underachieving, set-in-his-ways thirtysomething man (Heder) living with his mom (Kaczmarek) who finds his perfectly organized world upended when she gets married — and her new husband (Elliott) plus his three teenage children move in.

Ray Donovan (Showtime)

NEW YORK, NY – (February 19, 2014) – Critically-acclaimed actor Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Treme) will guest star in a recurring role on the second season of the hit SHOWTIME drama series Ray Donovan. Pierce will play Mr. Keith, a down on his luck parole officer who gets a payoff from Ray (Emmy and Golden Globe® Award nominee Liev Schreiber). Pierce joins previously announced guest stars Emmy®-winner Hank Azaria, along with actresses Sherilyn Fenn and Vinessa Shaw.  Production on the second season’s 12 episodes is currently underway in Los Angeles and is set for a summer premiere on SHOWTIME.

Wendell Pierce is an Emmy, Obie and Peabody Award-winning actor and Tony® Award-winning producer, most recognized for his portrayal of “Det. ‘Bunk’ Moreland” on the critically-acclaimed series The Wire. He recently wrapped the fourth and final season of Treme, and appeared on The Michael J. Fox Show.  He also continues to host the Peabody Award-winning national radio program, Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Set in the sprawling mecca of the rich and famous, RAY DONOVAN stars Schreiber as LA’s best professional fixer, the man called in to make the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls’ most complicated and combustible situations go away. This powerful drama unfolds when his father, Mickey Donovan, played by Jon Voight in his Golden Globe-winning role, is unexpectedly released from prison, setting off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core.  The cast also includes Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Steven Bauer, Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby.

Warrior (ABC)

Don Hany…has been tapped as the male lead in ABC’s medical drama pilot Warriors, from writer Chris Keyser, Mandeville TV and ABC Studios. Inspired by the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, Warriors follow the best and brightest active-duty military doctors and nurses as they practice trailblazing medicine. Hany will play trauma surgeon George Mann, who can’t stop taking care of these men, though it nearly breaks his heart, every day.

Old Soul (NBC)

Greta Lee…is set to co-star opposite Natasha Lyonne in NBC‘s single-camera comedy pilot Old Soul…directed by David Wain, Old Soul centers on a reformed wild child Nadia (Lyonne) who has a business caring for the elderly and feels she has more in common with her colorful old clients than she does with people her age.

The Visitors (ABC)

Derek Webster…has booked role on ABC alien drama pilot The Visitors…It chronicles the race against the clock to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world. Webster…plays Jessup Rollins, an FBI agent with two disciplinary reprimands on his record and a past of difficult behavior.

Tribeca (TBS)

Deon Cole…has joined TBS‘ comedy pilot Tribeca, directed by Steve Carell…Tribeca is a satirical look at a police procedural anchored by Angie Tribeca (Rashida Jones), an outspoken 10-year veteran of the LAPD’s elite RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit). Cole…will play Officer DJ Tanner, head of the K-9 unit.

Proof (TNT)

Edi Gathegi…and Caroline Rose Kaplan have signed on to TNT‘s pilot Proof, a supernatural medical drama…directed by Alex Graves, Proof centers on a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation. Gathegi…will play Zed, a Sudanese hospital intern tasked with finding proof of life after death…Kaplan, in her first TV series role, plays Janel, assistant to billionaire Ivan Turing.
