TV Casting: THE 100, POWERS, DAREDEVIL, Wentworth Miller in THE FLASH

The 100, Powers, Daredevil, The Flash, and other television productions have all made recent TV show and TV movie casting news. These shows and movies air on Fox, Netflix, and The CW.

R&B Aaliyah Biopic (Lifetime)

actress Alex Shipp…will now rock the boat in the network’s high-profile biopic of the late R&B singer Aaliyah. Producers had to scramble when original star Zendaya pulled out of the project last month.

The Flash (The CW)

The producers also announced today that Wentworth Miller will guest star on the series as Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold.

One change that does not reflect the comic book:  The characters of Iris West (played by Candice Patton) and Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) are portrayed by black actors.

The Good Wife (CBS)

Steven Pasquale has joined the cast of the upcoming sixth season of CBS’ The Good Wife. He is slated for a two-episode arc as Elfman, one of the top campaign managers in the country who Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) is trying to convince to run Alicia’s (Julianna Margulies) possible campaign.

The Lottery (Lifetime)

Ghostbusters‘ Ernie Hudson has booked a guest role on Lifetime’s conspiracy thriller The Lottery…Hudson will play Randall Mitchell, a former Attorney General who uses his access to get the truth about his son (August Richard).

Grace & Frankie  (Netflix)

June Diane Raphael and Baron Vaughn have landed roles in Grace & Frankie, Netflix’s upcoming half-hour comedy toplined by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin…Raphael…will play Brianna, the older daughter of Grace and Robert, who rebels against Grace’s emphasis on appearances and decorum, but despite her keen awareness of who she’s not, she struggles to define who she is. Vaughn…will play Nwabudike, or “Bud”, as he prefers to be called, Frankie and Sol’s son. Adopted at a young age from Uganda, Bud identifies more as an American Jew than an African man. He works at his father’s law firm, keeps kosher, and often finds himself in the position of perpetual peacekeeper.

Shameless (Showtime)

Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding) has joined season five of the critically acclaimed hit SHOWTIME comedy series SHAMELESS, guest starring in a season-long story arc. Mulroney will play ex-bad boy and recovering addict Sean Pierce, Fiona’s (Emmy Rossum) new manager at Patsy’s Pies. As their relationship turns flirtatious and their tension grows, will they be able to overcome their weakness for each other?

Dermot Mulroney has appeared in over 65 films including My Best Friend’s Wedding, Family Stone, Big Miracle, The Grey, About Schmidt, Stoker, jOBS, J Edgar, Zodiac, Where The Money Is and The Wedding Date. He most recently appeared with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in John Wells’ adaptation of Tracy Letts’ award-winning August: Osage County. He also starred this year, for the first time as a series regular in Crisis. His other television credits include Enlightened and New Girl. Currently, Mulroney is in production on his first horror genre movie, Insidious 3: Into The Further. Mulroney is also a classically trained cellist who has been playing since he was 7 years old.  He has recorded with scoring orchestras for many films with Academy Award® winning composers including James Newton Howard and Michael Giacchino.

The series is currently in production on its fifth season to air in 2015, and stars Oscar® and Emmy nominee William H. Powers

Susan Heyward has been tapped as the female lead in Powers, the Sony Playstation Network series based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. Also cast in the direct-to-series project, whose first two episodes will be directed by David Slade from scripts by Charlie Huston, are Max Fowler (The Killing) and Adam Godley (Breaking Bad, Suits).

set in a world full of people with superhuman abilities and where all of those powers are just another catalyst for mayhem and murder. It follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Heyward), who are assigned to protect humans like us and investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as Powers who glide through the sky on lightning bolts and fire and who clash above cities in epic battle, oblivious to the mortals below. Pilgrim is described as equal parts beauty and sarcasm, a wunderkind detective with edgy style.

Fowler will play Krispin Stockley, the son of Walker’s murdered partner, a disaffected teen still struggling with the death of his father at the hand of a rogue Power which starts him on a dark journey that will warp him both physically and emotionally. Godley will play Captain Cross, the solid steel in a frail frame captain of the Powers division, bookish, respectful and loyal but may harbor a secret agenda that could lead his beloved department into a full-fledged conspiracy.

The Dovekeepers (CBS)

Cote de Pablo has been tapped to star in CBS’ The Dovekeepers, a four-hour miniseries from Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to air in 2015. De Pablo…will play Shirah, one of the four women, who is a sensual, mysterious and fiercely independent single mother with uncanny insights and a quiet and mysterious power. She is derided by many as the “Witch of Moab,” as she covertly practices forbidden ancient rites of magic and is keenly knowledgeable about herbal remedies. However, those in need don’t hesitate to approach her for her help and generosity of spirit.

Daredevil (Netflix)

Peter Shinkoda has been tapped for a major recurring role in Netflix’s Marvel drama series Daredevil set to premiere in 2015. Shinkoda…will play Hachiro.

Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil has cast its leading lady: True Blood breakout Deborah Ann Woll.

Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Woll will play Karen Page, the blind lawyer by day and crime-fighting hero by night and Matt Murdock’s (Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox) love interest in the 13-episode drama.

Galyntine (AMC)

James Hoare (Henry VIII) and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Into The Storm) have joined the cast of AMC’s drama pilot Galyntine…Hoare…will play Aethys, an apprentice blacksmith in the colony who has a gnawing restlessness and curiosity that lead him to a life-changing discovery. Debnam-Carey…will play Essyn, Aeuthys’ sister and a doctor in training who is also the sole interitor of her family’s property, holding the future of many colonists in her hands.

Backstrom (Fox)

Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) has been cast in Fox’s new drama series Backstrom...Forster will appear in two episodes this season as Everett’s dad, Sheriff Blue Backstrom. Blue is a local legend who’s gained notoriety through his tough, smart, pitiless, yet likable disposition. But Everett is too pained by memories of Blue as the abusive father of his youth to see his dad’s “goodness” and “sincerity.”

Grimm (NBC)

Elizabeth Rodriguez has booked a recurring role on NBC’s supernatural crime drama Grimm…She will play Special Agent Chavez, an FBI agent with a hidden agenda and a secret identity.

Tyrant (FX)

Leslie Hope has booked a recurring role on FX’s Tyrant…Hope…will play Lea Exley in the final three episodes of the season.

The 100 (The CW)

Raymond J. Barry (Training Day) is set as a recurring on the CW’s The 100. Barry will play Dante Wallace, a passionate painter and leader.
