TV Casting: THE WALKING DEAD, WOLF HALL, HYSTERIA, COCKED, KNIFEMAN

The Walking Dead, Wolf Hall, Hysteria, Cocked, Knifeman, and other TV series have all made recent TV show casting news. These shows air on Showtime, AMC, ABC, CBS, History, Masterpiece, and Amazon respectively.

Seth Gilliam, who has joined Walking Dead as a new series regular for Season 5. He will play a character listed on the breakdown as Michael Todd, though his real name is being kept under wraps…Michael is described as having two sides, displaying a friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret.

Angie Tribeca (CBS)

The network has ordered 10 episodes of the project starring Rashida Jones for a 2015 premiere…Jones plays Angie Tribeca, a lone wolf who’s capable, committed, strong and not thrilled when her boss (Burns) tells her she has to work with a partner (guest star Hayes Macarthur)…Jere Burns, Deon Cole and Andree Vermeulen co-star on the series, with Alfred Molina, Lisa Kudrow, Gary Cole, Nancy Carell, Macarthur and Matthew Glave making appearances in the pilot.

Hysteria (Amazon)

Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises) is set as the male lead opposite Mena Suvari in Amazon Studios’ drama pilot Hysteria…Stewart…will play a local man who is trying to reconnect with his family after he had an affair with the family babysitter and now finds the girl not wanting to let go.

Texas Rising (History)

Johnathon Schaech has joined the cast of History’s miniseries Texas Rising….Schaech…will play Colonel Sherman, the blustering Kentucky aristocrat who thinks Sam Houston (Bill Paxton) is a disastrous commander and challenges his orders at every opportunity.

Tennis-themed drama pilot (ABC Family)

ABC Family has the male lead for its tennis-themed drama pilot, which Jay Karas has come on board to direct. English actor Alex Roe’s first stateside role will be as a once-in-a-generation phenom in Unstrung, which is set on the pro tennis tour where brother and sister Luke (Roe) and Ellie Holt (Chanel Celaya) compete to move up the ranks. The Holts seem to have it all, but when Luke discovers that his well-meaning but controlling father and coach has kept a potentially life-altering secret from him, Luke’s world is upended.

Cocked (Amazon)

Dreama Walker is set to-co-star opposite Sam Trammell in Amazon Studios’ dramedy pilot Cocked. Written by Samuel Baum and Sam Shaw, Cocked centers on Richard Paxson (Trammell), a Washington D.C. management consultant who’s estranged from his father Wade and brother but is pulled back in to the fray of his family’s gun manufacturing company after a corporate rival, run by their uncle, moves to take them over. Walker will play Wade’s illegitimate daughter Tabby, who now works in marketing for the Paxson Firearms company and butts heads with Richard.

Masters Of Sex (Showtime)

Jocko Sims…has joined the second season of Showtime‘s Masters Of Sex as recurring. He will play Robert, who first comes into Libby’s (Caitlin Fitzgerald) orbit through his sister, Coral, who is working in the Masters’ home. He is an activist with CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) and has a clear eyed sense of injustice and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to see his cause through.

Knifeman (AMC)

Craig Zisk has stepped in to direct AMC drama pilot Knifeman after Brian Percival pulled out last week for personal reasons.

Wolf Hall (Masterpriece)

Damian Lewis will play Henry VIII opposite Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell in upcoming miniseries Wolf Hall…Peter Kosminsky (White Oleander) is directing the six-part drama from a script by Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). The story charts Cromwell’s meteoric rise from lowly blacksmith’s son to Henry VIII’s closest advisor…Claire Foy as Anne Boleyn; Jonathan Pryce as Cardinal Thomas Wolsey; Joanne Whalley as Katherine of Aragon; Sherlock‘s Mark Gatiss as Stephen Gardiner, Secretary to the King; Anton Lesser as Thomas More; Mathieu Amalric as Ambassador of Spain; Charity Wakefield as Mary Boleyn; Jessica Raine as Jane Rochford; Bernard Hill as the Duke of Norfolk; Richard Dillane as the Duke of Suffolk; Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Cromwell’s ward Rafe Sadler; Natasha Little as Cromwell’s wife Liz; and Saskia Reeves as her sister Johane.

Recovery Road (ABC Family)

Kyla Pratt…and Justin Prentice (Malibu Country) have been cast as series regulars opposite Samantha Logan on ABC Family’s drama pilot Recovery Road, …Pratt…will play Trish Collins, Maddie’s roommate at the rehab facility. Prentice will play Dallas, the uber-popular, devious and Machiavellian yet sentimental high school bad boy.
