Dexter

Nick Gomez will play hit man Javier Guzman on the Showtime drama, TVLine has learned.

The character — who goes by the nickname El Sapo — will find himself frustrated when Debra gets in between him and his target, which probably isn’t great news for Dexter’s sis.

Under the Dome

Under the Dome has cast its lead role: Actor Mike Vogel has signed on to the CBS thriller as Dale “Barbie” Barbara, an Army veteran who arrives in the small town of Chester’s Mill on a mysterious mission.

Beverly Hills Cop

character actor Kevin Pollak has joined the cast of CBS’ upcoming Beverly Hills Cop pilot…Pollak is set to co-star as Rodney Daloof, the in-house lawyer for the Beverly Hills Police Department.  The character is described as “incredibly risk-averse, a stickler for the rules, and a loud-mouthed bully”

The Killing

Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern, An Education) is set to play the character of Tom Seward, a death-row inmate.  The character is described as “a lifelong convict born into poverty and crime [who has] been in and out of the system for violent crimes since he was 10.”

The string of 12 episodes will pick up a year after the events of the season two finale and will find Mireille Enos’ Sarah Linden and Joel Kinnaman’s Stephen Holder tackling an all-new case that will be solved by season’s end.

The season’s events are put into motion when Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden.  One assumes that Sarsgaard’s character figures into this previous case somehow, seeing as how he’s on death row.  The actor joins other new The Killing cast additions Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island), and Max Fowler (F).

The Terror

[Ridley Scott] is working with AMC on The Terror, a drama series based on Dan Simmons‘ 2007 bestseller of the same title.

The story takes place in 1847, when a Royal Navy crew in search of the Arctic’s Northwest Passage finds a nasty predator waiting for them. David Kajganich…is set to script.

The novel is a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin’s lost expedition of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror to the Arctic to force the Northwest Passage in 1845–1848. In the novel, while Franklin and his crew are plagued by starvation and scurvy and forced to contend with mutiny and cannibalism, they are stalked across the bleak Arctic landscape by a monster.

The characters featured in The Terror are almost all actual members of Franklin’s crew, whose unexplained disappearance has warranted a great deal of speculation. The main characters in the novel include Sir John Franklin, commander of the expedition and captain of Erebus, Captain Francis Crozier, captain of Terror, Dr Harry D.S Goodsir, and Captain James Fitzjames.

In the final chapters of the book, Simmons explores and uses various aspects of Eskimo mythology to explain the existence of the monster (called the Tuunbaq) as a mythological creature made flesh, as well as its reasons for stalking and preying on the men of the Franklin Expedition.

The Bridge

FX has ordered thirteen episodes of The Bridge, an adaptation of a Scandinavian crime drama (yes, another one) titled i Bron. Production will begin this spring, with the premiere slotted for July. Diane Kruger and Demián Bichir play detectives from the U.S. and Mexico, respectively, who join forces to track down a serial killer who works along the border.

Super Clyde

Rupert Grint has been set to lead the CBS pilot Super Clyde, which centers on a young man who decides to become a superhero.  Grint will play Clyde, a fast-food worker and avid comic book reader who considers himself borderline agoraphobic with mild to severe anxiety issues.  Clyde wishes he were a superhero himself, and when he inherits a $100,000 a month inheritance from his deceased eccentric uncle, “he decides that the cash will be his secret super power and will use it only for good and reward the good-hearted.”
