TV Review: CALIFORNICATION: Season 5, Episode 7: Here I Go Again

David Duchovny, Californication

Californication Season 5 Episode 7 Here I Go Again Review. Californication: Season 5, Episode 7: Here I Go Again saw Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler) get what he had been scheming and angling for since almost the beginning of this season.

The viewer knew something was going to happen the moment Lizzie (Camilla Luddington) asked if she could take a shower in Runkle’s place. It was the laugh outloud moment of the episode with Charlie Runkle returned home after at least an hour, walks into his bathroom and there is Lizzie, exclaiming when seeing her naked: “That was one long f*cking shower”.

Hank continues to show why people love to hate him: his good heart cloaked behind bad actions, schemes, and shenanigans that fail. Most culminate in people thinking both more and less of him. The latest in this episode was Hank’s noble attempts to hide Richard Bates (Jason Beghe)’s infidelity with Holly (Drea de Matteo). I was surprised Holly was just as noble and honest (returning Bates’ wallet) and went along with it.

Becca Moody (Madeleine Martin)’s honesty is always startling and it was so in this episode when she tells her father Hank Moody (David Duchovny) that everything was fine in her new life until he showed up. I wish her character would get a little more screen time than she usually does.
