How To Get Away With Murder She Keeps Secrets Review

How to Get Away with Murder: Season 4, Episode 10: She Keeps Secrets. This How to Get Away with Murder She Keeps Secrets review contends that the episode is easier to follow than its immediate predecessor but still not as shocking as previous entries in the series.

Among the many interesting developments that Thursday night’s show builds on is the unexpected raising of Laurel’s (Karla Souza) father Jorge (Esai Morales) from secondary character to the show’s primary antagonist, with his hands in everything from Wes’s (Alfred Enoch) death to Denver’s (Benito Martinez) run for political office. In fact, the episode gives him a big bad speech at the beginning of the program, in which he heralds Antares’ recent business acquisition as a sort of new world order where information will no longer be in the hands of elites. It’s surprising sheerly in how ambitious the scope of Jorge’s plans are, with the implication being that he will do a lot more damage than he already has on a wider scale if the Keating Five isn’t able to expose his misdeeds and bring him to justice. Indeed, this might very well make him the most consequential villain in the show’s entire history.

As for our heroes, it’s Asher’s (Matt McGorry) turn to stand out this time around. Having come a long way from the blockheaded bro he was at the start of the show, Asher is arguably now the most levelheaded party in the group, to say nothing of the one most determined to keep it together. McGorry still retains some of the boyish naivety that made his character so amusing in the first place (one remark about feeling safe around Nate (Billy Brown) because of his muscles recalls this aspect of the role), but he is able to hold his own against the more savvy members of the Keating Five.

There is one misstep in the show’s dialogue however, and it’s a misstep that all too many people make in real life. Connor’s (Jack Falahee) comment about them not being able to understand the people Annalise is representing in her class-action suit because they’re “people of color” goes shockingly unchallenged even as Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) is in the room with him. Did the writers slip up and forget Oliver was present, or was this a gaffe on Connor’s part, a comment on his own obliviousness about racial injustice? We may never know.

**** We hired Reggie, fulfilled our obligations to him, and he quit in the middle of covering two TV series w/ no notice and no explanation. He then ignored our emails asking him to complete his coverage (we had no one else to cover those TV shows). He didn't care. We regret hiring him and we regret putting our trust in him. **** An aspiring writer, longtime film junkie, and former UCLARadio.com disc jockey (where I graduated with a BA in Political Science), I've made the jump from penning book reviews and current events editorials for HonorSociety.org to writing movie and TV news and reviews. When I'm not working towards my certificate in Radio and Television/Video Production at Fullerton College, I enjoy reading (horror, science fiction, and historical/political nonfiction are particular favorites), participating in my school's TV and theatre clubs, attending movie screenings, plays, concerts, and other events, and trying to come up with pithy things to say on social media. Believe it or not, there are occasions where I find time to write for my own leisure.
