TV Review: SONS OF ANARCHY: Season 5, Episode 6: Small World

Kurt Sutter Maggie Siff Sons of Anarchy Small World

Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Episode 6 Small World Review. Sons of Anarchy: Season 5, Episode 1: Small World was an episode of revenge and truths. Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is sinking into his role as the head of SAMCRO. Not only is he getting the club deeper into the drug trade (which makes sense since they have to transport it anyway), he sanctioned the murder of an innocent woman (after the fact) then beat Harry ‘Opie’ Winston’s murderer to death in front of her corpse.

Jax beating the guard to death to the snow castle tune of “Its a small world after all” (he found the guard, like he promised) signified Jax becoming the worst parts of Alex ‘Tig’ Trager (Kim Coates) and Clarence ‘Clay’ Morrow (Ron Perlman): part of Jax’s personality is completely at the opposite end of the spectrum from where it was at the beginning of the TV series. He wasn’t even upset that an innocent woman was killed, justifying it afterward where the old Jax would have been appalled.

The most dramatic verbal scene in the episode and the series was between Gemma Teller Morrow (Katey Sagal) and Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie). Unser told her so many truths about herself to her face that Gemma could not even respond to them. It was great acting acting on both fronts and illuminating, showing how Gemma is perceived by not only Unser but everyone.

The jaw-dropping moment of the episode came when Otto ‘Big Otto’ Delaney (Kurt Sutter) asked Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) to get down on her knees in the prison infirmary. The viewer will not be surprised that Otto made such a request after everything he has done for SAMCRO and has endured because of his affiliation with the MC.

Tara will eventually comply with Otto request just like Jax stayed in SAMCRO (the last thing he wanted to do) to keep the Rico case from going through. It will happen in a later episode, toward the end of this season when the threat of the Rico case begins to loom again. She will not let Jax go to prison for life and see SAMCRO destroyed. Tara may wait for the day or week before Otto is to be executed to do it so Otto can’t tell the club about it.

Clarence ‘Clay’ Morrow (Ron Perlman) is very clever (Terl clever), playing the helpless cripple part up after his doctor says he is nearly recovered.
