Comic-Con Vikings: Season 5 Trailer and Premiere Date
History‘s Vikings: Season 5 TV show trailer from the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con International stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Alexander Ludwig, and Gustaf Skarsgård. Vikings: Season 5’s plot synopsis: “Season five begins with Ivar the Boneless asserting his leadership over the Great Heathen Army, while Lagertha reigns as Queen of Kattegat. Ivar’s murder of his brother Sigurd sets the stage for vicious battles to come as Ragnar’s sons plot their next moves after avenging their father’s death. Bjorn follows his destiny into the Mediterranean Sea and Floki who is suffering from the loss of his wife Helga, takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods. This season is full of startling alliances and unbelievable betrayals as the Vikings fight to rule the world.”
The upcoming season of Vikings looks as though it will be fantastic. Vikings: Season 5 is built upon all that has come before it. It is evident from what is in the trailer that the show is in good hands and will be able survive the death of Ragnar Lothbrok and the presence of Travis Fimmel. I don’t know if the narrative of The Walking Dead could survive the death of Rick Grimes but Vikings is not The Walking Dead. Other characters on Vikings have been built up to such a degree that combined, they are all capable of carrying the series. Vikings writer Michael Hirst deserves a lot of credit for that.
Ivar “The Boneless” Lothbrok (Alex Høgh Andersen) has become one of the most exciting and note-worthy characters on the series. During Season 5, he will finally have the spotlight on him and the outright animosity of people he once called brother, friend, and family.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers introduction into the mix as Bishop Heahmund was an interesting development that occurred in the last episode of Season 4. His moments during that episode (The Reckoning) and in this trailer show that Heahmund is a man of God in name only.
Vikings: Season 5 also stars Peter Franzén, Jasper Pääkkönen, Moe Dunford, Marco Ilsø, Jordan Patrick Smith, and Josefin Asplund.
The people and companies behind-the-scenes of Vikings: Michael Hirst, Morgan O’Sullivan, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, and James Flynn is the executive producer of Vikings. The executive in charge of production for History is Arturo Interian. Vikings is co-produced by Take 5 Productions, World 2000, and in association with Corus Entertainment. MGM Television is the world-wide distributor of Vikings outside of Canada and Ireland.
