Gianmaria Pezzato‘s Voldemort: Origins of the Heir (2018) short film stars Stefano Rossi, Davide Ellena, Andrea Baglio, Andrea Deanesi, and Aurora Moroni. Voldemort: Origins of the Heir‘s plot synopsis: “Voldemort – Origins of the Heir talks about the early life of Voldemort, powerful dark Wizard from the Harry Potter saga, and all the reasons that made his name so well-known and feared among his peers.”

I have been waiting for this short film to premiere for almost a year and it doesn’t disappoint. Short films have been getting closer and closer to the quality of feature length films when it comes to production value, acting, and the quality of their scripts. Voldemort: Origins of the Heir is the latest example of that.

I haven’t read nor have I seen any of the Harry Potter films (a few bits and pieces of one film but not enough to form an impression about the overall film).

Because of that, I had no idea who Grisha McLaggen (Maddalena Orcali) was before this short film. I knew that Tom Riddle (Stefano Rossi) becomes Voldermort from the trailer and promotional materials for this short film. I also know that Voldermort shows up at the end of the Harry Potter films. That’s it.

Even for a non-reader, non-Harry Potter film-seer, this short film was exciting to watch, even with the learning curve attached.

The beginning magic battle was well-down, especially with McLaggen moving faster than the other sorcerers could keep up with.

Voldemort: Origins of the Heir also stars Andrea Bonfanti, Gelsomina Bassetti, Alessio Dalla Costa, and Daniele Decarli.
