VOLTRON & Guillermo del Toro’s TROLLHUNTER TV Series Coming to NetFlix

Voltorn Guillermo del Toro

Voltron and Trollhunter TV Series coming to Netflix. Streaming service Netflix is diversifying its product offering with DreamWorks Animation through Voltron and with Guillermo del Toro through Trollhunter. Regarding the former, it is probably the most adult of the TV series that Netflix will have once it begins airing. Voltron was basically a war cartoon with an army on one side and a giant robot made up of five robotic Lions on the other.

On Voltron: Defender of the Universe (Lion Force Voltron) (via Wikipedia):

The first season was edited primarily from Beast King GoLion (Hyakujû-ô Goraion), and featured a team of five young pilots commanding five robot lions which could be combined to form Voltron. In this undefined future era, the Voltron Force was in charge of protecting the planet Arus (ruled by Princess Allura) from the evil King Zarkon (from planet Doom), his son Lotor, and the witch Haggar, who would create huge Robeasts to terrorize the people of Arus.

Since the Lion Force Voltron was more popular than Vehicle Voltron, which followed Lion Force Voltron for the original show’s later seasons. Because of that fact, it will most-likely be the Lion Force Voltron that is brought to the small screen again, no matter how it is re-imagined.

With Trollhunter, Guillermo del Toro with bring his creative vigor to a fantasy world focused on two best friends who stumble upon a momentous discovery beneath the streets of their hometown.

Both new TV series (in addition to five more that have not been disclosed) are part of an expansion / extension of a pre-existing business deal between Netflix, Inc. and DreamWorks Animation from 2013 that covers streaming rights for all DreamWorks Animation feature films and the creation of new, original TV series (excluding China).

No release date has been given for either of the new series.
