THE WALKING DEAD: Renewed for Season 6

The Walking Dead AMC

The Walking Dead Gets Renewed for a Sixth Season. As The Walking Dead’s season premiere approaches this Sunday, AMC is wasting no time as the network announced a sixth season pick-up for the zombie smash just as the fifth season is about to begin.

In a statement according to TVLine, AMC President Charlie Collier shared the good news of the early renewal. “We could not be more excited for October 12 as we share new episodes of The Walking Dead with fans around the globe,” the AMC President said. “In advance of Sunday’s Season 5 premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series. Thank you to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the terrific executive producers, and the entire team who brings this compelling world and these rich characters to life. There’s plenty more Dead ahead thanks to their impressive, collective effort.”

It comes to no surprise that The Walking Dead gets picked up for another season due to its success on TV and social media. Scott M. Gimple will continue on as showrunner for the upcoming season of AMC’s number one hit show. This early pick-up also helps as The Walking Dead expands the franchise with a spin-off series in the works to release in 2016. Expect the sixth season to arrive on October 2015. Are all of you glad that there is more Walking Dead in our near future?

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, and Chad Coleman. Don’t forget to watch the season premiere of The Walking Dead on October 12 at 9PM only on AMC.
