Suicide Squad Spin-off Featuring Harley Quinn Gets the Greenlight

After the fairly successful performance of Suicide Squad at the box office, Warner Bros. is looking forward to expanding the franchise with a spin-off featuring Margot Robbie’s standout character Harley Quinn. The actress will be serving as an executive producer on the project.The Hollywood Reporter gave word that Margot Robbie has just signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. to develop and produce films from her LuckyChap Entertainment company. The Aussie actress already has two projects up her sleeve: the neo-noir thriller Terminal and the Suicide Squad spin-off featuring her character Harley Quinn. No other details were given on the upcoming film, but The Hollywood Reporter did confirm that other DC heroines will be featured.

The studio seems to want to stay in business with Robbie as they see how successful she has become after getting rave reviews from fans and critics for her take on Harley Quinn. After earning more than $700 million in the box office, who wouldn’t want to hire her for other projects?
