With The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug about to be released in theaters on December 13, 2013, this ‘Couch Gag’ is timely and entertaining. With The Simpsons recently being renewed for a 26th season, it is only fitting that the longest running TV show in history begin referencing large pop culture events more and more.
