Following the end of his term as governor, Schwarzenegger has sought to return to the big screen, getting involved in projects like Gunther. The project will be a return to form for Schwarzenegger, who is as known for his roles in comedies like Kindergarten Cop and Jingle All The Way as he is for his appearances in more gritty films like The Terminator and The Running Man.
Playing opposite Schwarzengger is Cobie Smulders of The Avengers and How I Met Your Mother fame, who happens to be married to Taran Killam. Killam himself, who previously worked on Saturday Night Live, will also act in the picture:
Why We’re Killing Gunther is said to follow Gunther, “the world’s greatest hitman,” who comes under friendly fire when a group of international assassins decides that he’s too much of a braggart for his own good and that they’ll off him once and for all. As they pursue him, however, they find that Gunther’s “world’s greatest hitman” title is not an undeserved one and that the master assassin is ahead of them every step of the way.
Why We’re Killing Gunther will also star Paul Brittain (Hotel Transylvania 2, Saturday Night Live), Ryan Gaul (Identity Thief, House of Lies), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Sisters), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) and Randall Park (The Interview, Fresh Off the Boat).
