WIDOWS (2018): Colin Farrell In Talks For Crime Drama

Colin Farrell Could Play Role In Steve McQueen’s Upcoming Widows

Golden Globe-nominated In Bruges star Colin Farrell is in the middle of negotiations to act in Steve McQueen‘s next movie Widows.

In addition to his role in the aforementioned black comedy film, Farrell is known for acting in Hart’s War, Daredevil, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and Horrible Bosses. More recently, he appeared as Percival Graves in the adaptation of J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and David in The Lobster, the latter of which saw him receive his second Golden Globe nomination.

Coming in the wake of his massively-successful 2013 release 12 Years A Slave, McQueen appears to be in no rush to assemble his cast and start production for the crime series remake. Some of the names currently attached to the film include Liam Neeson, Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, and Cynthia Erivo.

Comingsoon.net, the source of this story, shares the following description and information about the series from which McQueen’s movie takes inspiration from:

In the series, three robbers are killed during a crime and their widows, Dolly Rawlins (Ann Mitchell), Shirley Miller (Fiona Hendley) and Linda Perelli (Maureen O’Farrell), enlist the help of Bella O’Reilly (Eva Mottley) to pull of the raids that their husbands completely failed at.

In 2002, the first series was remade for the American market, but the plot was significantly changed.
