WINTER’S TALE (2014): Warner Brother’s Sets A Release Date

Winter’s Tale has been given a spring release date. The Warner Brother’s film will head to the big screen on February 14, 2014. On Friday, the studio announced a release date for the drama, which stars Colin Farrell as a thief named Peter Lake. Lake falls in love with a dying girl played by Jessica Brown Findlay.

Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly also star in the film set in a mythic New York City. Other actors include  Will Smith, William Hurt, Eva Marie Saint, Matt Bomer, Lucy Griffiths, and Finn Whittrock.

The film is directed by Akiva Goldsman who also wrote the adaptation of Mark Helprin’s novel. Marc E. Platt and Michael Tadross are also listed as producers with Goldsman. Hans Zimmer composed the music for the film. Warner Bros. Pictures originally gave Akiva Goldsman a $75 million budget but the final budget of the film was $46 million.

Set in 1916 and present-day Manhattan, Peter Lake is a thief who falls in love with Beverly Penn, a dying girl who occupies one of the houses he breaks into. Lake is saved from the insane gangster Pearly Soames (Russell Crowe) and his gang by Athanasor, a mysterious white horse who becomes his guardian angel.
