Hugh Jackman Wolverine

Hugh Jackman Wants to Continue Playing Wolverine Until He Dies. Hugh Jackman seems optimistic about his future as Wolverine being a long one. Despite doubts of his time being Wolverine could be ending, the actor admits that he changed his mind and thinks he can continue.

In an interview with Cigar Aficiando (via E! Online), Jackman told the outlet that watching Michael Keaton in Birdman has inspired him to stick with playing the X-Men character.

I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.’ I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor…I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic.

The Australian actor continued the conversation talking about how his mind works when playing Wolverine.

I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. I don’t believe in stagnation. People say they try to maintain the status quo. But I believe the natural cycle means you’re either advancing and getting closer to something or you’re receding…Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally.

We still don’t know if Hugh Jackman will return for X-Men: Apocalypse, but it’s a possibility that we may see him returning to the role. Jackman is also confirmed for the third Wolverine film set for March 3, 2017 with James Mangold once again directing the film.
