WONDER WOMAN 2: Patty Jenkins Ready To Return For Sequel
Patty Jenkins Expresses Interest In Helming Planned Sequel Wonder Woman 2
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins says that she would like to oversee production on the proposed follow-up to the DC superhero film.
Considering the critical and financial success of the movie, it’s a no-brainer that Warner Bros. is already drawing up plans for a sequel. In fact, it’s reported that the next movie will take place in modern times, likely bridging the gap between Wonder Woman and the upcoming Justice League. Speaking of which, Gal Gadot will return as Diana in a few months for the DC Extended Universe crossover.
According to Gadot, both her and Jenkins are already committed to the project by contract, although there have been notable instances where studios’ scrapped contracts with cast and crew members in order to replace them with others. One such example is Batman Forever, another DC movie that was to feature Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face as part of his contract for the franchise only for director Joel Schumacher to pay him the requisite fee to terminate his contract and replace him with Tommy Lee Jones.
In any case, Jenkins had the following to say about directing the sequel, as Superherohype reports:
“What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies. I don’t care about that at all,” said Jenkins, who may first film a smaller movie based on her husband Sam Sheridan’s writing and starring Chris Pine, or her long-gestating I Am Superman (no relation to DC Comics) with Ryan Gosling. “I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie.”
