Boxer Ann Wolfe Revealed to Play Artemis in Wonder Woman

Famed boxer Ann Wolfe was featured in the cast list to appear in Wonder Woman, but it wasn’t revealed what role she will be playing. Director Patty Jenkins finally opened up on that, revealing that the female boxer will be portraying the role of Amazonian warrior Artemis.

It was sometime last year when actress Connie Nielsen shared a group photo, which included Ann Wolfe among the cast. This led to speculation that the eight-time world champ was part of the movie. Fans may have guessed that she would be playing Artemis, and director Patty Jenkins confirmed on her Twitter feed that this is correct. In the tweet, she said: ‘The legend @AnneWolfeBoxing is our Artemis!! Who else should be one of the greatest warrior Amazons, but the best female boxer in history.”

In the comics, Artemis was known for being the head guard of Queen Hippolyta who took up the mantle of Wonder Woman at one point. She is now part of the Red Hoot and The Outlaws in her recent incarnation.
