A MONSTER CALLS (2016) Movie Trailers: Liam Nesson Voices Lewis MacDougall’s Monster

Lewis MacDougall A Monster Calls

A Monster Calls Trailers. J.A. Bayona‘s A Monster Calls (2016) movie trailers star Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell, and Lewis MacDougall. A Monster Calls‘ plot synopsis: based on the novel by Patrick Ness,”the movie follows a 12-year-old Conor O’Malley (newcomer Lewis MacDougall) who attempts to deal with the illness of his mother (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.”

A child dealing with the loss of their parent (s) or having sick parent is nothing new in the book world. Actually, it is pretty familiar territory. Ness’ book and the film based on it adds a twist – a talking tree voiced by Liam Nesson. This film immediately reminded me of Bridge to Terabithia and all of that film’s narrative twists and turns. This film seems far darker than Bridge to Terabithia while saving its emotional moments for the film and not spoiling them in the trailers.

This family film also stars Geraldine Chaplin, Jennifer Lim, Frida Palsson, Ben Moor, James Melville, Max Gabbay, and Morgan Symes.
