Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Clark Gregg Teases Hawkeye on the Show. Many actors just love to tease what’s coming up on their shows, especially Clark Gregg for his show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He went on Facebook this week to post an image hinting at Hawkeye’s appearance on the ABC show.
The image, which comes from the Secret Avengers comic book series, shows the famed archer and Phil Coulson at a standoff, with both gun and bow ready to fire. It doesn’t seem impossible for Jeremy Renner to make an appearance as Hawkeye on the show. Stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Jaimie Alexander appeared in the series reprising their roles from the Marvel films.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been known for their tie-ins to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with them crossing over with Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, especially the latter where the season made a drastic turn making a change for the entire series. We should be seeing this again before Avengers: Age of Ultron releases next year.
Renner discussed earlier in October during a Reddit AMA session about a possible cameo on the superhero series.
I guess, again — those are questions that are tough to really answer, because it’s above my pay grade, haha!” wrote Renner. “It’s not something I sit and think about. But I suppose if it was offered up, there’s an outside chance it could happen. I haven’t seen the show, so I don’t know how it works, but I’m sure the folks at Marvel have ideas, and when they’re strong enough, they’ll bring ’em to me. But I love me some Clark Gregg, he’s so great. We killed him and brought him back to life to do Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he’s so good!
If Hawkeye does appear on the show, the episode could include a meeting between him and Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki). In the comics, the two agents had an on and off romantic fling. So it should be interesting to see that dynamic happen on screen.
