Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Image Unveils Grant Ward as Hive. We last saw Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) left for dead in the planet Maveth, but not without being taken over by an entity of alien origin. Now he’s back on Earth, but is now under a different name, mainly Marvel supervillain Hive.
Cast member Elizabeth Henstridge let slip at Wizard World in Portland that Grant Ward had already transformed into Marvel character Hive. Well, showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen has just confirmed that this is indeed the case. The alien that has taken over Ward’s body in the Fall finale is revealed to be Hive, a tentacled group of parasites that can take over the body of a human, and was made by HYRDA. However, since this takes place in the MCU, there will be some changes to the character’s origins to match with the show’s Inhuman storyline.
Speaking with Nerdist, here’s what Maurissa said about the big development. “[Hive] is going to have its own unique twist and be very different from what fans have seen so far,” she explained. “We will see similarities that pay homage to the original character, but fans will see that Hive is taking an exciting new direction in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D.”
