Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Welcomes Madame Hydra in First Image
When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns this week, the team will find themselves in an alternate reality created by AIDA (Mallory Jansen) where HYDRA rules the world. Included in that world is Madame Hydra, who makes her first appearance on the show, and we have our first look.
We’ve seen Mallory Jansen this season as both the android AIDA and her human counterpart Agnes Kitsworth, but we will also be seeing her donning a different persona. During the midseason premiere this week, the actress will be bringing classic Marvel villainess Madame Hydra to life. In our first image of the character provided by Entertainment Weekly, we see the actress suiting up in the traditional green coat with her hair partially dyed green.
Chatting with EW, EPs Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen discussed the new role that Jansen is playing in the second half of the fourth season.
Since we’re bringing back Hydra in the Framework, we thought we’d bring it back with a force to be reckoned with, Madame Hydra is a villain with the perfect combo of strength, sexy, and scary. We’ve thrown many challenges Mallory’s way and she’s always up for the task. We’re excited for fans to see how she makes Madame Hydra come to life.
Fans at WonderCon got to see her in action with a sneak peak at the midseason premiere, which airs on April 4th. The character was previously played by Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova for 2013’s The Wolverine as her more popular name Viper. Even though 20th Century Fox owned the character as part of their X-Men rights, it appears that Marvel Television may have come to an agreement to share the character like they did with Quicksilver. We can also take in mind that this may also be a different iteration of the character as well. What do you guys think?
