ALIEN: COVENANT (2017): Noomi Rapace Not Returning for Sequel

Noomi Rapace Prometheus

Noomi Rapace Won’t Return for Alien: Covenant. It looks like we may have already seen the last of Elizabeth Shaw. Actress Noomi Rapace won’t be returning to reprise her role as the character in the upcoming sequel to Prometheus, titled Alien: Covenant, when it comes out next year.

Despite being the only human survivor in the end of Prometheus, audiences won’t be seeing the doctor when Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters. Director Ridley Scott confirmed that Noomi Rapace won’t come back for the sequel when he spoke with the Daily Mail (via Yahoo). Scott noted that the film is “still casting the main roles.” The only cast member confirmed to come back is Michael Fassbender, who played the android David. Actress Katherine Waterston was confirmed last December to play the lead role in the upcoming film, so it makes sense that Noomi won’t return since someone else will be playing the lead character.

So what will happen to her character? It will be interesting what the status is on Shaw since Prometheus. Plus, the studio is looking to go back to the Alien franchise, so it will be moving away from what Prometheus set up. What do you guys think about this? Alien: Covenant will come out in theaters on October 6th, 2017.
