Ridley Scott Announces Shooting On The Alien: Covenant Sequel Will Start In 14 Months

Academy Award-nominated Thelma and Louise director Ridley Scott reveals that production will begin on the planned sequel to Alien: Covenant within the next 14 months.

The news will certainly come as a welcome surprise to fans of the iconic science fiction franchise. A few weeks back, the director said that pre-production halted on Alien: Awakening, the proposed follow-up from screenwriter Neill Blomkamp. However, it seems that Scott has not thrown in the towel on the series and is getting ready to make another installment of the franchise.

Having helmed the original Alien film in 1979, Scott is credited with originating the beloved property even after turning the reins over to fellow Academy Award alum James Cameron for the sequel Aliens. More recently, he has returned to the director’s chair for the prequel Prometheus as well as the upcoming Covenant.

Superherohype, the source of this story, shares the following information about the soon-to-be-released film:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco.
