AQUARIUS: Amanda Brooks Joins As Major Character [NBC]

Amanda Brooks

Amanda Brooks set to play recurring role in Aquarius. She will be regularly appearing as actress and murder victim Sharon Tate in the NBC crime drama.

She joins The X-Files star and series lead David Duchovny in the second season of the show. Based on one of the most shocking incidents of the 1960’s, Aquarius tells the story of Duchovny’s Sam Hodiak, a straight-laced LA cop investigating charismatic young cult leader Charles Manson (Gethin Anthony) prior to the multiple murders carried out by his followers. Described as historical fiction, the series features events inspired by the killings rather than simply dramatizing them. Brooks’ portrayal of Sharon Tate will be the first historical figure outside of the Manson family to appear on Aquarius as a major character.

A rising star at the time of her death, Tate was widely adored as one of the most beautiful figures to come out of Hollywood in the 1960’s. She appeared in the controversial Valley of the Dolls as well as the James Bond spoof The Wrecking Crew, in addition to making guest appearances on such memorable shows as The Beverly Hillbillies, Mister Ed, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Tate was married to revolutionary director Roman Polanski and expecting child when Manson’s followers, mistakenly believing their target, the previous owner of the house, still lived there, broke into his home and brutally murdered her, her unborn child, and several companions present at the time.

At this point, it’s unclear if the series will actually show the Manson murders, including Tate’s killing, but viewers are certain to see plenty of Brooks as the doomed actress.
