Megalyn Echikunwoke To Play Live-Action Vixen on Arrow. With the success of the web series Vixen, she will now be making her first live-action appearance later this season on Arrow. Actress Megalyn Echikunwoke who voiced Vixen will transition the character into live-action.

TV Insider first reported that Vixen would be making her first live-action appearance on Arrow during the 15th episode, which airs on February 24. Megalyn Echikunwoke will reprise her role of Mari McCabe, who starred in The CW Seed’s first web series Vixen. Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim opened up about Megalyn Echikunwoke joining the show, saying that this is the latest move by the network to expand on their DC TV content. “We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe.”

Having Vixen come on Arrow should be interesting to see if they make references of her character’s first encounter with Oliver Queens (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) on the show since Vixen is considered canon to the Arrowverse. However, there may be other viewers who never had a chance to watch the short web series, so it’s possible that her appearance may be minimal. Also, with Vixen in the mix, The CW can add another team member for their rumored Birds of Prey spin-off.

Vixen, whose named Mari McCabe, hails from Detroit who inherits a totem necklace that gains her the power of any animal. As Vixen, Mari uses her new powers to stop those who have killed her family and are after her family heirloom.
