Art Of Obsession Trailer

The first movie trailer for Art of Obsession (2017) from The Art of Obsession Productions and Blackguardism Creations. The teaser is my first exposure to the film, but like Kidnap, I gotta say it doesn’t leave me wondering why I’ve never heard of this movie. Between the cringeworthy voiceovers, shoddy dialogue, and confused editing, I know very much why.

Starring Ry Barrett as a writer who has given up on life, the trailer shows him do shockingly little other than look surprised and get pushed around by other characters. In fact, it seems to be all about Winnie Clarke‘s character Patricia, who appears to be a nightmare version of a manic pixie dream girl. Opening up with a line about how the “conflict of an artist’s struggle is akin to a Shakespearean tragedy,” it’s hard to find anything more tragic than the try-hard writing and Clarke’s pathetically put-on inflections.

But wait, there’s more! After showing us an incoherent jumble of hostile interactions between the characters, the trailer ends by cutting to black before the movie’s title fades in and Barrett declares off-screen, “This is me at my most misanthropic.” Wow, looks like we got a real edgelord here.

Ryan M. Andrew‘s Art of Obsession (2017) also stars Raven Cousens, Jessica Vano, Timothy Paul McCarthy, Brian McDonald, Margaret Jeronimo, Keegan Chambers, Megan Liedo, and Monika Meyer.
