Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely touch on how many characters will appear in Avengers: Infinity War – Part I. The screenwriters also reiterated that Thanos would serve as the primary antagonist in the film.
While previous reports suggested that the upcoming Marvel crossover would feature as many as 67 characters, Markus and McFeely qualified such claims by saying only a few of them would actually have major roles. They also explained that they included characters who have already made their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in their count. In any case, fans will be pleased to know that there is a good chance even their most obscure favorite might appear in Infinity War.
In addition, the two screenwriters elaborated on earlier remarks that the movie will mark Thanos’ first appearance as the main villain of a Marvel film:
“[Thanos]. It’s easy,” McFeely tells Huffington Post. “Really giving him good scenes. You know, he’s never been the villain in any of the movies. He’s never been the main character in that way, so giving lots of good screen time to Thanos is paramount and pretty fun….He hasn’t had an amazing scene. I think it’s an advantage ultimately, right? Because people are anticipating this guy coming in and really delivering the goods. So, I think they’re eager, and we just have to deliver it. We don’t have to convince them that he’s gonna be interesting. We just have to execute what has been teased.”
