BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE (2016): Zack Snyder Elaborates On “Ultimate Cut”

Zack Snyder talks about R-rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The director discussed the longer, more explicit cut of the DC superhero film that will be released later this year.

As anticipation for the blockbuster movie builds to a head before it’s release, Snyder revealed some details about the different cut of Batman v Superman in an interview with Collider. The cut, which he boldly refers to as the “Ultimate Cut”, offers a mature spin on the film.

Claiming that the cut presents a much “deeper dive” into the DC Entertainment universe, Snyder explains that he was able to restore a decent amount of material he was forced to excise from the theatrical cut. One wonders how much he added, considering his first cut of the film ran even longer than the 2 hours and a half the final product ran for:

“There’s a little bit of action, there’s a little bit of violence that we trimmed out for the MPAA that we put back. The Batman warehouse rescue, there’s a couple shots of Doomsday that were too intense. Then there’s a little bit longer ending, sort of the ending sequence, and the opening of the movie, the North Africa sequence is really much different.”

It will be interesting to see if any of the addition scenes make the movie flow better as a whole, and explain/flesh out some of the more… glossed over plot points.
